A meeting was held at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta involving several ministers from the Red and White Cabinet to discuss the situation of PT Sritex employees who had been laid off. The focus of the meeting was on finding solutions for the affected workers, following a directive from Prabowo. Among the attendees were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
Prasetyo emphasized the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the urgency of resolving the issues stemming from PT Sritex’s bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a new working scheme within the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s efforts in potentially rehiring former Sritex employees within the next two weeks.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to providing support and guidance is expected to bring relief to the laid-off PT Sritex employees. The Ministry of Manpower is actively working to protect the rights of PT Sritex Group workers, ensuring they receive layoff compensation and other statutory rights. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to manage Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, ultimately leading to the reemployment of the affected workers. This initiative aims to bring stability to the impacted employees and provide a resolution to their current predicament.
