The motorcade carrying President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron moved from Monas to the palace grounds, amidst tight security, enhancing the ceremonial ambiance.
Upon arrival at Merdeka Palace, President Macron warmly greeted the students and was officially welcomed by President Prabowo Subianto. The two leaders then proceeded to the ceremonial grounds, accompanied by the national anthems of both countries and a formal 21-gun salute as a mark of respect. In a show of solidarity, Prabowo and Macron inspected the honor guard under the clear blue sky of Jakarta, with Macron acknowledging the enthusiastic students waving flags in the palace courtyard.
The event was attended by ministers from the Red and White Cabinet, as well as Prabowo’s son, Ragowo Hediprasetyo. Macron’s visit to Indonesia also included a visit to the Military Academy in Magelang and the UNESCO World Heritage site, Borobudur Temple, highlighting the shared cultural and educational values of Indonesia and France. Subsequent to the welcome ceremony, the two leaders engaged in a closed-door bilateral meeting to discuss and strengthen various strategic partnerships, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations.
