President Prabowo Subianto has expressed his optimism about Indonesia’s potential to achieve net-zero carbon emissions on time, positioning the nation as a pioneer in reaching this milestone. At a virtual conference focusing on renewable energy development and the expansion of oil production in East Java, Prabowo underscored Indonesia’s capacity to efficiently produce energy and streamline logistics networks, leading to cost-effectiveness. He reiterated the significance of energy sovereignty in Indonesia’s overarching vision and unveiled plans to roll out 55 new projects dedicated to renewable energy, including geothermal power plants, to supply clean, reliable, and effective energy throughout the archipelago.
The President lauded the joint endeavor of governmental ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy corporations like Medco Energi and ExxonMobil for their steadfast support in propelling Indonesia’s energy revolution. Despite acknowledging the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, Prabowo stressed the pivotal role of renewable sources, particularly solar power, in securing energy self-reliance for local communities nationwide. He expressed confidence in Indonesia’s forthcoming prospects, pointing to solar energy as a beacon of hope for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. Through optimizing renewable energy outlets, Indonesia aims to chart a course towards a more sustainable and vibrant future.
