The National Nutrition Agency (Badan Gizi Nasional, BGN) is proposing the integration of nutrition education into the national school curriculum to promote the health and competitiveness of Indonesian students. According to Ikeu Tanziha, a member of BGN’s Nutrition Expert Council, incorporating structured nutrition education in schools is crucial for developing a strong understanding of nutrition from an early age. This initiative aims to help students learn about basic nutritional concepts, food group classification, the role of nutrients in the body, and the effects of unhealthy eating habits. By introducing students to practical skills like cooking and gardening, the proposed curriculum will empower them to make informed dietary decisions and lead healthier lives. The integration of nutrition education is expected to create a collaborative effort among schools, families, and communities in promoting balanced nutrition throughout society. BGN emphasizes the importance of supporting this initiative to achieve Indonesia’s goal of creating a Golden Generation by 2045. Through various educational initiatives like social media outreach and the Free Nutritious Meals Program, BGN is working to ensure that comprehensive nutrition education is accessible to all levels of society.
