National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is taking a step to recruit workers for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) from individuals living in extreme and general poverty to promote local employment. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the National Nutrition Agency, mentioned that 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will be selected from underprivileged households as per the President’s directive. The Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program aims to contribute to job creation and support families in the lowest economic deciles by providing employment opportunities. Currently, there are 2,378 SPPG units established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions such as cooperatives, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes/BUMDesma), and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). With 93,572 local community members volunteering in the SPPG program, the MBG Program has benefited 7,444,238 individuals nationwide, including categories like students, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and more. To expand the program, BGN will introduce 2,401 more SPPG units in the next 10 days, increasing the total operational units to 4,788 and aiming to serve around 15 million beneficiaries across the country.
