by

The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has ceased the operation of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) due to the discovery of substandard food in the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units are suspended until investigations are completed and food samples are tested in the laboratory. BGN is collaborating with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to determine the cause of the incident and monitor the health of affected students. Apologies were extended to students, parents, schools, and all affected parties by the National Nutrition Agency for the unfit food discovery in the MBG Program. BGN reaffirms its zero-tolerance policy towards negligence in food procurement and distribution to avoid health risks for beneficiaries. The agency is working closely with local government authorities to ensure swift and effective responses on the ground. Redy emphasized that this incident will drive improvements in screening partners, enhancing hygiene standards, improving the supply chain and food quality monitoring, and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations. The National Nutrition Agency is dedicated to meeting food safety standards in the MBG Program while providing benefits without compromising health. With the support and vigilance of stakeholders, the program is expected to continue effectively.
